Why are we always so hard on ourselves?

When was the last time you thanked yourself? We are so hard on ourselves, always putting ourselves down and expecting perfection. It’s not like we can’t improve, but what about the things that we have already mastered?

You deserve to be proud of who you are today. You should be thankful for everything you have learned and achieved up until this point in your life.

This is something I struggle with and these are a couple things I try to keep in mind.

1) Be Thankful

It’s easy to dwell on everything that’s wrong with our lives, but a little perspective can go a long way. Think about all your personal accomplishments and how far you’ve come as a person.

It’s easy to start beating yourself up when you’re feeling down, but don’t do it. The most important person in your life is you, don’t punish yourself for every mistake you make.

The phrase “today is a gift” may seem cliché, but it’s true. You don’t know what tomorrow will bring, and you can never get back today once it’s gone.

Motivation is an elusive thing that often appears during tough times. Instead of waiting for motivation to appear, make it happen. Schedule time every day to pursue your goals and dreams even if you don’t feel like it.
